2 Kings 16:2

16:2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. ¹  He did not do what pleased the Lord his God, in contrast to his ancestor David. ²

Ahaz’s Reign over Judah

16:1 In the seventeenth year of the reign of Pekah son of Remaliah, Jotham’s son Ahaz became king over Judah.

2 Kings 11:4

11:4 In the seventh year Jehoiada summoned ³  the officers of the units of hundreds of the Carians ⁴  and the royal bodyguard. ⁵  He met with them ⁶  in the Lord’s temple. He made an agreement ⁷  with them and made them swear an oath of allegiance in the Lord’s temple. Then he showed them the king’s son.

15:3 He did what the Lord approved, just as his father Amaziah had done. ⁸

15:2 He was sixteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned for fifty-two years in Jerusalem. ⁹  His mother’s name was Jecholiah, who was from Jerusalem.
